Demonstration for Mandatory Court Recording in Child Custody Disputes Friday April 13, noon
April 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
We are having a protest on Friday, April 13, at 12:00, at the Delray Beach Courthouse, about Mandatory Electronic Recordings in Child Custody Cases in Family Court. Please join us.
CHILDREN ARE LOSING CONTACT WITH LOVING PARENTS
In Family Court Child Custody cases, electronic recordings are not mandated. Yet in order to appeal a case a transcript is necessary.
A parent who cannot afford a paid court reporter cannot appeal the Judge’s decisions. There is no evidence of what transpired in those proceedings for anyone to refer to.
Therefore an erroneous decision can put the child in danger. We have witnessed many cases where an abusive parent manipulates the court and causes the protective parent and their entire family to lose all contact with their child.
The trauma caused by this loss of contact to both child and parent is everlasting, impacting the child into adulthood and affecting all types of personal relationships and mental health in general.
Please let your legislator know that disadvantaged families are not given their right to fair and impartial treatment in Family Court. Amendment VII and VIII of the Constitution state that cruel and unusual punishment is prohibited and that a trial by jury is allowed in civil cases. Equal protections in court and due process laws are also in the Amendments of the Constitution.
Your family may be next. Change is needed.
